Auto Categorizing Existing Images

Prerequisites and Setup

Overview

Existing images in the Media Library can be automatically categorized in bulk.

This is useful if:

  • You are installing Media Library Organizer Pro on an existing WordPress web site, where images already exist in the Media Library,
  • You have made a change to the Minimum Confidence level, and want to re-categorize images that may have been previously automatically categorized by Auto Categorization.

To bulk (re)categorize existing Images, click on Media in the WordPress Administration menu.

List View

If you are viewing uploads in the list view (i.e. a table similar to how Pages and Posts are displayed in the WordPress Administration interface):

  • Tick the checkboxes beside the images that you wish to select
Auto Categorize: Bulk Actions List: Checkbox
  • Click the Bulk Actions dropdown
  • Choose the Auto Categorize option
Auto Categorize: Bulk Actions List: Select
  • Click the Apply button

An on screen progress bar will be displayed, updating as each image is categorized.

Each image will also have its Media Categories updated, if auto categorization was successful.

Common Issues

Images not being categorized

  1. Confirm that an Authorization Code has been specified on the Settings screen
  2. Confirm that the Minimum Confidence score is not too high, as this will reduce the number of categories detected for an image
  3. If you are on a non-web accessible host (for example, localhost, 127.0.0.1 or a .dev domain), it’s not possible to Auto Categorize images.
